Well, I bought two AA rechargeables from Radio Shack, then cut a piece
of stiff paper to use to defeat the no charge circuit and emulate the
BP-DM20. (THe BP-MD20 has some little protrusions on one end that close
a little switch in the MD to let it know that it has a rechargeable
battery in it instead of a dry cell.) It worked right well. Then, I
found a BP-DM20 for sale at either Circuit City or Best Buy, I think
it was Circuit City, for about $19.00 so I got that to use in another
unit.
