Hi,

it sounds to me as if either VCR/DAT input or your MZ-R55 line-out is broken.
Normally if you connect the line-out of the MZ-R55 to a line-in, it should work
correctly.
I suppose you have a CD player. Try connecting the MZ-R55 to the CD in of your
amplifier. If this works fine, something is wrong with your amplifier. If it
still doesn't work, you probably have a broken line-out on your MZ-R55. You
could also connect the CD-Player to your VCR/Dat input and see if the sound is
okay. If not, your VCR/Dat is broken.

Never connect anything else than a turn-table to your phone-in unless you want
to fry your phone-in.

Cheers,
Ralph -> who points out that titling/editing with a deck is much easyer than
with a portable....
