I ve just recorded MP3, Real Audio MS Window Media formats directly to the MD.
And it s all done automatically!!
The way to do it is very simple:
- You can surf the net (using your browser)
- Drag and drop links of any content in any format into a small icon on the screen and
- Schedule automatic recording.
- The PC will wakeup during the night (according to the time scheduled)
- Automatically dial to the Internet, download and record my recording list onto my MD
and ..
- Disconnect from the net.
All this without running the batteries out of it's juice.
(They use the PC's power to provide current to the MD).
Well... My friend has just showed me his new Internet MD.
This is basically Sharp-MT15 with a "NetLink" adapter and a software client (they call
it VMM) from a company named Voquette.
The adapter is connected to the PC on one end and the MD on the other.
You put the MD in Sync Record mode.
and the VMM software is very simple to use.
I played with it and it's great.
The only drawback I found is that they record the audio of the sound card (but I
tested it and the sound quality was at the same quality as I get listening to music
via my PC's speakers)
Another drawback is that the recording is done in real time (but the overnight
recording compensates for it and the fact that by the end of the process I have a hard
copy [i.e. MD] and I don't have to connect to my PC every time I want to change my
play list as they solid state players offer today compensate this drawbacks!)
This is also the first time I experienced automatic recordings of streaming media
(something that the solid state players do not provide us today!).
Bottom line >> Forget about solid-state devices! It s time for net-enabled MDs!!
