A Dolby Digital data stream is compressed. It can contain any number of
channels (upto 6). Even a stereo sountrack (ie with just two channels)
will be sent as compressed AC-3 when sent via Dolby Digital.  No MD
recorder or CD-DA recorder will capture this compressed format for you.
You're only option it to select a Dolby Surround mode (Pro-Logic) or
Stereo mode and record that. In both cases it will still be 'digital'
just not Dolby Digital.
