I've had this problem before. Make sure the "digital output only" toggle is
not checked. You can find this option at the volume control in Windows
environment. Double Click on the volume control, and make sure the advanced
properties under options in the dialogue box is checked. Click on Advanced
properties and uncheck "Digital Otuput Only".
