That reminds me, I did have a problem with my R30 once when I plugged the mike
into the optical line in.... duh.

I thnk he already recorded over it, but it is a good idea if he  hasn't .

Also, is it possible that the battery was  loose?  after all, it did seem to
lose power.

The buffer in  the r 30 is 40 seconds.  Everything older than that is already
on the disk, toc or no toc.
