Joost Koiter asked,
| Could someone please help me out? I made a recording of a concert tonight,
| but when I put away my recorder, the battery compartment accidentely went
| open and the writing of the TOC wasn't complete. So I can't play a thing
| back, the disc is being treated as empty. But the data HAS to be on it, I
| just can't access it because of a faulty TOC.
That's right.
| Does someone know a way to play this disc?
Fortunately, Jack's answer was wrong: if you have not recorded new material
on the disc, the old material probably can be recovered by cloning the TOC
from another disc -- in this case, one filled with a single track, mono or
stereo according to the lost concert recording on the disc you want to
recover. You didn't say what recorder model you have: cloning can be done
on Sony decks (except the ATRAC 4.0 series) and on Sharp 7xx slot-in porta-
bles.
| Is there some kind of test mode perhaps that just plays a disc from the
| beginning on?
Very unlikely without cloning, though I heard the Sony MDS-JE700 can do it.
Again, you didn't say which model of recorder you have.
