God, I suddenly feel very..... very...... VERY....... Old. Music
"before my time" that I enjoy is stuff like Bunny Berrigan, Glenn
Miller, Fats Waller and the like :-) One thing nice about those
artists - no one gives a damn if you put it up on the internet.
Check out the phonograph web ring for some really good material.
What's really scary is to think that some of the music I download
off the Internet because it's easier than ripping my CD, I've
previously purchased on vinyl, 8-track, cassette and CD. Some even
on shellac.
Can I have my heart pills now, please? :-)
Thing I like about MDs over any other format is that I can combine
selections from all sorts of music onto one disc and then keep it
around. I like to make discs that create moods. I guess one could
do that with an MP3 player and a good playlist manager but I don't
have the patience to hook up and download every time my mood
changes.
Unrelated question: I read somewhere that the RCA Lyra MP3 player
can use the PC card containing that tiny 340 mb IBM hard drive.
True? If so, suddenly that thing has my interest....
