Hi. Several years ago a company called Nu Reality introduced a product
called VIVID 3D. The purpose of this product was to create a "3D" sound
field.

The product came in several versions. There was one designed for use
with a home Hi Fi system. The popular versions were inexpensive and
designed for enhancing tiny speakers like those used with a computer
system.

I have the "deluxe" version. In addition to a "space" knob, there is
one labeled "center". The unit expands the sound stage and in the case
of "deluxe" version also will increase or decrease the virtual center
speaker.

This product doesn't seem to have caught on. I am not sure why. Maybe
it just did not impress people. But I noticed that the latest version
of MS Windows Media Player has the SRS (O) software included. Has
anyone else tried the Vivid 3D unit? What was your impression?

One of my theories is that they did not recommend using the unit in a
car. If the circuitry had been introduced into auto receivers, I think
that it might have helped increase interest.

Since my deluxe (Plus) version cost under $100, actual circuitry alone
(without the jacks, knobs, case, ac adapter, etc.) adding the actual
circuitry to an auto receiver would have probably been minimal. They're
including it free with the free Media Player.
