Rat, does this mean you would agree that the isolation and quality within
the component could affect the sound quality through the digital out (from
machine to machine)?  I mean if mechanical noise can affect analogue
circuitry, presumably it must affect the digital information since in order
to reach the digital out ports of a component, the information must go from
the laser through circuitry.  I suppose even if this is the case, the next
question is whether "effects" from mechanical noise makes any difference to
the information....

Also, is there a generation of ATRAC decompression + recompression when the
MD component reads a disc and pumps the information out a digital port?
