Howdy all, recently i posted to this mailing list about the atrac codec that was out there and how i thought that it might be neat if they integrated it into both solid state players and portable cd players. I got many responses that completely confused me in every respect. in almost every case the response was to the fact that they wanted to store mp3's on a MD because the media was cool. OK i agree 100% that the media format is cool and i personally love it. but the part i dont get is that an MP3 at 128k is fairly close in size to ATRAC3 at 132k. now knowing this the only thing that mp3 would give you on a minidisc is crappy sound. I'm not sure if people dont get the fact that MD medium does not hold the 650 meg that cd's do or the fact that they just like music that sounds like crap. anyway if anyone can answer why you would want to put mp3's on a minidisc for storage instead of atrac on a medium that can hold a little more (dont get me wrong i love the md format and use it for exercising all the time, plus on my home stero too) anyway hopefully someone can explain this to me. thanks sorry about that last msg for some reason my test is getting deleted on first send ----------------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
