The best sounding MD deck available for that price (with digital outputs, 1
coaxial, 1 optical) is the Kenwood DMF-9020 (MD-2070 in the USA), though I
am not sure it is still available from Kenwood in the States - probably
still from resellers.

It does not have MDLP mode, but this isn't an issue if you give your first
priority to quality.
It is also one of the best MD deck reported by several reference audio
review magazines: What Hi-Fi (UK), Stereoplay (Germany), Audio (Germany) and
Revue du Son (France).
