In pre-revolutionary war times, and right up until then, a derogatory term
for the
British "redcoats", or British soldiers whose coats were red, was "lobster
back".  Oddly
enough it was considered vulgar and quite offensive by the british. I
remember reading
an anecdote about it my history book in high school (ahhh the memories).
