I agree totally. Bitwise reduction, not to say compression, was what made me
hesitate for several years before adopting the MD technology, and I know
many people for whom this is still a real obstacle.
But I guess it would need a complete change of equipment, as the MD disks
themselves should have more capacity. Hence other disks, other players,
other recorders, other car receivers, etc.
