Best Buy has reduced the price of its Turtle Beach AudioTron digital
music receiver to just $149.50. The $50 instant rebate expires on July
22nd, however, so hurry if you're interested! This unique receiver can
play .mp3's (including streaming ShoutCast audio!) and .wma files off
one's hard drive through an Ethernet or home phoneline networking (HPNA)
connection. It can also play .wav files, albeit only through an
Ethernet connection. The unit comes with a remote control and built-in
RCA and optical Toslink output jacks, perfect for hooking up to one's
minidisc recorder! If one's receiver has an optical input, one can even
keep the signal digital, all the way! Visit
http://www.audiotron.net/homepage.asp for more details about this
intriguing product. (F.Y.I.: Best Buy merchandises the AudioTron
receiver with their portable MP3 players, in the Computer Department.)

P.S. Note that the AudioTron does *not* come with an HPNA card. One
would have to purchase that separately, if one does not wish to use an
Ethernet connection. Fry's sells a NetGear HPNA 2.0 USB adapter for
less than $50, if one's interested in an alternative to a PCI card....
