That's not my point. With the bitrate as it is currently on Standard (non
lp) MD it's still audibly different from the cd, which can be heared by
people with 'golden ears'. Las said that by doubling the bitrate this would
no longer be the case. So my reply was; you can't do that. I'd LIKE to have
a choice like this (which could be implemented on e.g. a pro-deck) but
unfortunately I'm dependend on sony to implement this...And they probably
won't because then itwould be 'too hard'....

I guess you're right there, but those people probably are the same people
using analog tape for copying music! I am an audio enthousiast meaning i
don want to hear hiss (tape) nor 'flat sound' (low qual.mp3) And since joe
bloggs is probably using a flashy small (memory limited) Flash MP3 player
he'll have no choice but to encode at 128 kbps (and even 96 kbps...)

Well you could try md-lp4 ;) If i understand correctly it's about the
'quality' of 64 kbps mp3 (bah !)
