I paid almost $300 for and now if I want to use it I'd have to buy a PCI SCSI
card that would cost almost as much as the new scanner cost me.

I was hoping when I wrote to tech support (it's Umax) they tell me they were
sending me out a card, but instead they e mailed me a list of compatible cards
and stated that they were the only ones that would work with the scanner.
