In our case it was a bug in the kernel code that loads kernel modules and was tickled by the fact that we had an automount map with a mountpoint of /misc. Sun is working on integrating the fix into S10u8. It was filed as bugid 6841218. They sent us IDR142030-01-1101742729 which I applied in conjunction with kernel patch 138888-08 and that fixed it for us.
