I would agree with you in most cases.
I still have to repackage software from one of our line-of-business vendor’s. Otherwise the amount of changes that need to be made to registry keys, and ini files would be ridiculous. I use Admin Studio, great product and well worth the money. The “virtualization pack” is wonderful. As you repackage for install, you tick a box and get a AppV or ThinApp package as well. (Huge timesaver.) For in-house applications, the software development team should be providing you a software package to distribute with ConfigMgr.
