Actually I did R2 and ADK 8.1 then got that error when opening the deployment console. I went ahead and upgraded MDT too. Not the day I had planned when I walked in this morning. I'd done zero research on this. I am trying to solve a problem with USMT and hoped this would help... It didn't. :-(

If you are going to use MDT 2012 then you are limited to ADK 8.0. MDT 2012 won't recognize ADK 8.1.
