FYI, just confirmed after speaking to our tech at Lenovo, both KMDF and UMDF
are required for the newer models. He did explain Lenovo is starting to require
these two pieces for cross-platform driver support/added functionality to
Windows 8.

Also, confirmed working now (test machine just rebooted into Windows minutes
ago) with KMDF and UMDF added to our image.

I could never get it to install during the ts. Just started rebuilding our
image today. The update applied to the image during the build but the os still
wouldn't load on the reboot. Not on the t540p anyway. Dism showed the update as
'install pending'.

I know Dell started a while back, but now Lenovo is requiring KMDF 1.11 on some
models. For me it’s the ThinkPad T540p, the W540 is also mentioned.

NOTES
- To install Input(Ultranav) and Security(AMT) driver on the deployment package
properly, you need to add
  KMDF1.11 by referring to website
(http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=38423).

Here is a good article on applying it during the TS if you cant update your
image immediately.
