I haven't switched to the ADK from Update yet, why do you feel the need? For a new, clean MDT installation just for building / deploying Windows 8.1 Update, it only seemed appropriate. Now that I know to ignore the Components node altogether, all is well.

After that you can remove the ADK and install the one from Update.
