If you want to have more control over this process, you can simply call 
pnputil.exe to install (pre-stage) device drivers to the Windows driver store. 
You would want to use the -a parameter, and specify the path to the INF file.

Sure, just use an “inject drivers” step that specifies a selection profile 
containing the folders the drivers are in, then specify to always inject them.

Probably a dumb question but still : Is it still possible to do drivers 
Prestaging in MDT 2013 ? Back in the 2010 days I was doing that for 
non-attached network printers.
