New Special Program at Institut Musik Daya Indonesia (IMDI)

"Musical Theatre Crash Course Certificate Program"

Musical theater has become a growing segment of the entertainment
industry in Jakarta, comprised of regional, dinner and professional
theaters, and widely acknowledged as a training area for entry-level
skilled employment in the field. A Musical Theatre Crash Course
Certificate Program will facilitate the development of basic skills
for employment in the area.

Musical Theatre Crash Course Certificate Program is a great
opportunity for those who wish to learn the basics of Musical Theatre
and what it takes to be a professional musical performer or producer.
 The Course is designed to provide fundamentals of required
disciplines  and an informative sequence of compulsory subjects in the
area of common academic study of Theatre Arts, which would take at
least 4 to 5 years to complete. 
The Course is essential for people in Jakarta who perform regularly in
musical events as actors, singers and musicians and never attended any
formal Music or Theatre Arts course before.

Brief Description

What is crash course?
A crash course is a rapid and intense course of training or research
(usually undertaken in an emergency need).
The Musical Theatre crash course provides basic insight of what, when,
where, why and how as additional basic knowledge in Musical Theatre to
what is already experienced in a practical musical performances in
Jakarta and other parts of Indonesia.

Course Overview:

Brief History Of Theatre
provides an overview of development of Theatre from Ancient Greek,
China to modern Theatre and Musical Theatre including Ballet, Drama
and Opera/

Musical Production
coverage of basic techniques in a musical production and the
responsibility of each member of a musical production team. From Idea
and story to script writing, from casting to rehearsals, from
promotion to marketing and from pre to post production based on
traditional Broadway Theatre.

Basics of Acting and Body Awareness
In-depth review of self-awareness in front of audience and in
communicating with other members of artistic team.

Voice Training
essentials of various singing techniques in Musical Theatre, such as
belting and mix voice (head and chest register) based on review of
human anatomy and practice singing with crystal clear articulations of
words.

Applied Music
is necessary and a basic requirement to work as a Musical Theatre
performer and to work together with musicians.

Popular Dance on Stage, Screen and Television
provides a thorough introduction in elements of dance and fundamentals
of movement with choreography as essential part of Musical Theatre
performance.


Musical Theatre Workshop with Music Ensemble
rehearsal training based on script/story and music notation with cues
and signs, together with musicians and music director.
