TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Sukamto, the Indonesian Migrant Worker Attache at
the Indonesian Embassy in El Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has denied that an
Indonesian worker there suffered violence.

Based on the investigation of Indonesian Embassy staff to the Riyadh Medical
Center, he said, no Indonesian citizen was operated on or amputated within the
last 35 days.

"No such thing happened. My staff has checked the database and asked about
reports from Indonesian nurses who work there," he said when contacted by
Tempo, Monday afternoon (17/9).

Migrant Care's analyst, Wahyu Susilo, mentioned about an act of violence
against an Indonesian worker in Saudi Arabia, yesterday.

According to Wahyu, the worker was treated for two days in Riyadh Medical
Center while in a coma.

Two hands and one leg of the Indonesian worker, whose identity is not known
yet, said Wahyu, were amputated because the wounds were decaying.

Wahyu acknowledged receiving the report from an activist of Saudi National
Human Rights, that the Indonesian worker had been tortured for a month.

Wahyu, when contacted by Tempo again, said he still maintained the information
he received in the first place despite he has not had any further reports from
his source in Saudi Arabia.
