AGRICOLA Has Been Re-scoped
New Indexing Policy in Effect as of January 1, 2007

The National Agricultural Library has completed the process of re-scoping
the AGRICOLA Index and has published its list of titles recommended for
indexing in 2007. The decision to re-scope was necessary because our
appropriated resources were not sufficient to keep the AGRICOLA Index
current and permit us to increase the number of items indexed.
The over-arching goal of the re-scoping of AGRICOLA was to create a
sustainable index that filled a unique niche. Specifically, the re-scoped
Index will better serve NALs current customers by offering more links to
full-text articles and by avoiding duplication with other abstracting and
indexing services.
In order to achieve these goals, it was determined that publications
indexed in AGRICOLA must meet at least one of the following criteria:
be a U.S. Department of Agriculture publication or contain articles or
chapters authored by USDA personnel; support NALs Information Centers;
contain articles or chapters on core agricultural topics, written in the
English language; not be indexed by any other abstracting and indexing
service.

Gang raped for two cassettes but not giving up hope there is justice.
A family from Pakistan is seeking justice for the alleged gang rape of a
45-yea old woman and the abuse of her 10-yea old child
Respectfully sir, this incident took place on Nov 1st, have similarity of
Mis.Mkhtaran Maiee case which also happened years back in Pakistan. This time
region is different (province Sinsh).
A local village dispute over music cassettes culminated in the alleged
gang rape of a 45 year old mother of ten during which her ten year old daughter
was stripped. The family held a press conference, in order to appeal for
justice.
Govt, judicial authorities, political parties, human rights unions & civil
society organizations still hasnt yet been play their role regard of this
issue, without efforts of local people has been recording protest since very
first day of this frightful incident in order to appeal for justice.
According to victimized family, on November 1st Shehzadi of the Nagore
Rajpars was allegedly gang raped by members of a neighbouring tribe, the Haji
Rajpars. Her 20 years old son, Muhammad Nawab , had borrowed some cassettes
from a friend from the Haji Rajpar tribe. Both groups are residents of Province
Sindh
The cassettes were damaged and his friend demanded that he either his
replace them, or pay up. After a fight, Nawabs friend then told his eladers
that Nawab had been allegedly
making a pass at one of their girls, Guddi. When the elders of the Shehzadi
Nagore learnt of this they dispatched a messenger to ask for forgiveness. He
was told that all was well between them. However, just to be sure of the fact,
the Sehzadi sent ta merr is a Sindhi (Local) custom in which a group is
sent, along with children, with copies of the Holy book Quran. Following this,
the two tribes frequently had dinner together.
We had no inkling whatsoever, that they were still angry over the old issue,
Shehzadi,s nephew, Abdr Razzak, told Journalist here at Karachi.
During the cotton-picking season, Shehzadi was nominated to watch over
the women of her tribe while they worked. Shehzadis husband accompanied her to
the field every morning, and left when other women came. On Nov 1, they got to
the field at around 9:30 am with 10 year old Manzooran. All of sudden 5 men
rushed out from stalks, Shehzadis husband, Jamaldeen said more men
emergedaround 30 to 35 in total. Some of them pushed me to the ground. Others
grabbed my wife. Some caught my daughter while the rest stood guard. They raped
my wife in front of me, and Undressed my daughter, but they let her go after
undressing her and she ran off home. No one could help us because of the armed
thugs standing guard.
The elders assembled the same evening and come to the conclusion that the
police should be informed. Transport was arranged, and they went to the nearest
Police station, 16 to 17 Kilometres away. The SHO Police said that he wanted to
look at the crime scene and a Police mobile drove back with us. Razzak said.
They looked around and we set out for the police station again. Half way
through the SHO, Mr.Mjtaba told Jamaldeen (husband of Shehzadi) to go on ahead
with the police mobile and that he would join them in while. This was at 2 p.m.
The Police officer got to the Police station 5 hours later, tat 7 pm he had 4
men with him of the 15 that we had accused.
The Police Officer suggested that we should instead say in the FIR that
the men had intended to rape her, bit did not succeed, Jamaldeen said, but I
protested so the SHO (Police officer) asked his scribe to note down the FIR as
I wanted it. I named 15 men bt the actual FIR has only 12 names three others
were missing they actually are vital accused.
When asked why he hadnt mentioned what had happened to his daughter in
the FIR, Jamal said, The Police officer told me that she was a little girl.
It would cause problems when she grew up and no one would want to marry her.
The family then filed a petition at the High Court and the hearing was
scheduled for Nov 17. The men hit my wife, too Jamaldeen said They hit her
on the head with the butts of their guns in order to keep her down. She suffers
from headaches now and partial paralysis of the facial muscles at times. A
hospital in Hyderabad said that all of these problems are due to depression-my
wife is constantly depressed and quiet now.
We are trying to get ymy aunt checked by a neurologist, Razzak
explained. But she doesnt want to stay in Karachi. Whenever we take her
anywhere, she just wants to go back home. The Haji rajpar offered an
out-of-court settlement woman in return for this, etc. But why should we take
those women?
They werent at fault-the men were.
Recant statement of victimized Sehzadi
If Government doesnt seeking on my blemish life, my next step will burn my
self in protest of supporting to accused, who live freely curtsey of State
Police & Govt officials. Raped Shehzadi said in latest press conference on 20
Dec. She again beg justice from Govt in sounds of tears, she said Police
provide shelter to offenders against heavy bribe, we have fear from them.
