Inside The Dismantling of Circuit City
2/19/2009 @ 11:03 PM

First came bankruptcy ... then liquidation ... now once mighty CE
retailer Circuit City is selling the furniture, fixtures and
equipment from its headquarters and distribution centers to pay down
its debt.

A bankruptcy court in Richmond, Va. approved the deal between Circuit
City and Liquid Asset Partners earlier this week, clearing the way
for the retailer to sell warehouse and office equipment from seven
distribution centers, four service centers and two of its corporate
office locations. Circuit City has also received approval to break
its various store leases or auction off the locations to the highest
bidder.

Beyond the hard goods sale, the company this week also reportedly
received an offer from liquidation firm Hilco Merchant Resources to
buy the Circuit City brand name and web site for an undisclosed sum.
