XM Canada will be increasing its monthly subscription to $14.99 from $12.99
later this year, after its parent company, Canadian Satellite Radio
Holdings Inc., reported a $20.4 million loss in its latest quarter.

The new price will go into effect on September 1st, however, anyone
subscribing to XM before September 1, 2006, will get the $12.99 monthly
rate until September 2007.

The news will certainly raise eyebrows at Sirius Canada, mainly due to the
fact that the rate increase means XM's competitive edge of a lower
subscription price will no longer be a factor in the fight for subscribers.
Sirius Canada's monthly subscription price has been $14.99 since their
launch, however, Sirius Canada offers more channels than its competitor XM.
