[Mediawiki-l] php 5.2.10 and MW 1.6.5: bad characters

I have been using MW 1.6.5 and PhP 5.2.3 for some time and it works fine.

I just installed PhP 5.2.10 and my wiki pages are totally unrecognizable. Each 
page has many boxes and letters. See the following for example:

Does anybody know why? Thanks!!!!
