I think the problem is that you don't have the namespaces configured correctly. By default, there's an interwiki of 'wikipedia' pointing to English wikipedia. As the German wikipedia main page is Wikipedia:Hauptseite, you get that odd redirect. Remove the wikipedia entry from the interwiki table. You should now be able to browse to the pages without getting redirected to English wikipedia.
