Yes, we diverged the topic a bit. But it is a good think you brought this up. :) The fact is, if you haven't set $wgServer to anything in LocalSettings.php, it should just work. There may be something in your configuration which makes it fail. Can you provide the actual values of domain1 and domain2 so we can take a look?
