I am new to mediawiki, Would appreciate if anyone can help me in detail please.
Is  mediawiki:common.css  is the right place to change and what is the exact 
command/line/script to be written there.

Is it -     #mw-panal {display: none}
                Width: 100%

you can hide sidebar from CSS also. just set your #mw-panal display:none
and change content width accordingly. hope it will works.....
