That depends on where your content is coming from. If it's external to your wiki, you probably need a bot. You can find info about them here:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Bots Basically, they interact with MediaWiki via the API: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/API:Main_page You can use the API to code up something to do simple things that doesn't require full bot capability.
