Actually, I was the culprit. I changed from a Linux Mint LMDE version to
a server running Enterprise Ubuntu cloud. Also, yes php and Mysql all
changed. I actually own the hardware. Just made an error and had to
find my own solution. However I had that same problem with a server
running debian on a CloudShards VPS server, when they decided to
arbitrarily move the mediawiki to another piece of hardware, and didn't
tell me. That is why I no longer use them LOL. BTW had I not saved
several backups of the database, I would have been really screwed.

Database issue. Try resavin g the editing content of the main page, just as though you were
making it for the first time. I.E. Cut the content then past it back into the page and save
it. If thast rtestores the main page then try running the command;"php
refreshLinks.php" from the maintenance directory of mediawiki. This will take a while
& I suggest doing it in a root terminal using sudo.
