Hi Jeremi, This sounds like the same problem that a few extensions are having with 1.27. Extension:Lockdown did the same thing until there was a minor patch, but it still will not work the Visual Editor, Msupload, and the UpLoadWizard extensions (that I know of). I don't write extensions, but from what I've gathered something changed about the API in Mediawiki 1.27. Another extension, SemanticACL, does the exact same thing as you are describing about DPL 3rd party. Unfortunately, as far as I know, the problem has not been solved, and some extensions just will not work in 1.27 (and since the problem is generated by Mediawiki don't expect a quick fix).
