I'm having some trouble with autocomplete too. Does that work out of the box on a new installation of MediaWiki 1.28 + TitleKey? It doesn't seem to be working on my wikis (even after I run rebuildTitleKeys.php); all it is doing is showing me in the seachbar previous searches that I've done, on my wiki and on other wikis.
Apparently, it's not because of my browser, because autocomplete works fine when I go to WMF wikis and use their searchbar. I've gotten autocomplete to work on other wikis (on a different server), using MW 1.27, without using CirrusSearch.. I just don't remember how (there had been other users editing the gadgets, the css and js MediaWiki: pages, etc.; not sure if that had anything to do with it).
