This has been an issue for us since we implemented in 1999. Even though there
is a written protocol the IS stall who do the installations always forget that
there is a separate dictionary in Lab that needs to be set up. We in the Lab
usually did not know there was a problem until someone on the unit got sick of
reprinting labels, and they blamed Lab for their troubles.

I have found the only solution is to have a PC set in the Lab customer-defined
parameters "Use LIS client for Default Parameters". This default assigns a lab
printer, which for us is in the core Lab. When labels print that they were not
expecting, the core Lab folks know to save them for me. Then, I go into OE and
check the order audit to find out what PC was used. I then go into the client
dictionary (at least that's the Client Server term) and make the changes.

Tedious, but better than not knowing at all when the nursing units have a
problem.

Hello Lr's,
Has this ever happened to you where the name that you assigned to a PC
suddenly changed to another name (as seen on the MEDITECH log-on screen
right after the time, pls see below) without anyone changing it
manually? This problem has occurred in the past where the IT guys
assured me that they did not change anything manually. I gave them the
benefit of the doubt then. Last week it happened again which I reported
to MEDITECH. They told me that they never heard this problem before and
was advised to wait till it happens again. My concern is the impact on
the patient care. We had a near missed where lab did not get the label
because the "new" PC name is not set-up in the LIS Device Dict.
