Hi... Our solution may not be the best for it works for our small lab... We purchase pre-printed barcode labels. The roll has several copies of the same label for multiple tubes. During downtimes we have a master log for all ordered tests and a copy of the barcode label is attached here. We manually program our instruments with the barcode and tests ordered. After the downtime the tests are ordered on the patients, the results are resent by the analyzer to Meditech and we use the barcode # to match the specimen for resulting.
