Elouise,

Our hospital policy is that we list any "one time" type insurance such as
Workers Comp, MVA, etc as the primary, but then list the patient's normal
insurance underneath and answer demo recall yes. This helps in many ways. 1)
Staff have the info for the next visit, if necessary. 2) Billers have the
normal insurance if they receive a denial for no coverage or non-covered
diagnosis/condition. 3) Collectors know if a patient has an insurance such as
Medicaid that statutorily prohibits billing the patient even if the "other"
insurance takes years to settle and pay a claim. 4) Medicare billers can
submit claims for conditional payment when appropriate.

And now a new reason - MPM will get the information. I appreciate knowing that
as we have MPM and are in the beginning staging of implementing LSS billing.

Subject: Magic MPM Insurance Question

Hello!

When checking in a patient in the Medical and Practice Management (MPM) module,
is it possible to retain workers comp insurance information? Our hospital
policy is to respond N to "Update Ins Demo Recall?" for all workers comp so I
suspect it is not possible, but if anyone knows a way around this, please let
me know.

Thanks in advance.
