We have considered and reconsidered exactly what you describe. Right now we continue to do 100% review of the charges entered by the staff in the department. The coders do the review, and the corrections. We then report back to the ED management on the specifics of the errors which are then shared with the individual staff. With this, we are considering the possibility of the Coder staff actually entering the level of service charge procedure, along with other services provided such as infusions. It would be optimal to perform this function via the ABS module, since this is where the coders perform all other coding functions. Are Coders at any other facilities entering charges? If so, what module are they using and do you have some type of interface between ABS and BAR to enter the charges?
