EDM "Levels"

I've done attribute programming at two or three hospitals in the EDM
module to provide automatic assignment of a level into a group response
query.

Two hospitals kept all the criteria on the assessment that contained the
level query.

One had me go out to other assessments, and to some other modules also.

At 2 of the 3 sites the criteria for the level assignment got changed
after go-live, so it was handy to have a way to recalculate the level
after the fact to see what patients needed editing in BAR to bill
according to the new criteria. I wrote an EDM report to do this.

The basic approach is just like any other "totaling" attribute, either
sneak a program into the "PRE" or "READ" programs used by the Meditech
screen program, or attach code to IFE's and an REQ to dynamically
calculate, or just put the code on the 1 "Level" query.

It is important to recalculate when the assessment is filed, in case
they go to a query, change the value, and hit F(12) to terminate the
field read.
In that scenerio, your next IFE does not get executed so if you do not
recalculate with an REQ attribute you could file with a wrong value.

Hello Fellow L'ers:

We are in the early stages of implementing our EDM module. Currently,
depending upon the treatments a patient receives a total is obtained
which then is reflected by the 'level' of charge entered for the
patient's care.

Does anyone do this automatically within the EDM module? We see that we
can enter various charges based upon quantity or time and based upon
query responses. We just aren't sure which may be best for what we want
to do.

Do you have any pearls of wisdom?

Thank you in advance for your assistance with this request.

Have a great day.

Cindy
