If you are blessed with a Data Repository, you can pull out the MRI information and it will be as recent as your last data transfer from your Meditech system. Alternatively, you could occasionally dump a copy of your MRI information and import it into an Access database. With either of these solutions, you are able to use Access to create a lookup to view the information. At your Admission/Registration areas, if you have a networked label printer, you can create and print downtime admission labels for requisitions and other forms merely inputting the downtime account number and then pulling the rest of the patient's information out of your database. The meditech-l web site is MTUsers.com ====================================== We currently run a copy of our MPI file and store it on a server so that anyone who would need to locate a MRN would have access to it (i.e., MR personnel, registration personnel). If the network is down, we can also burn that to a CD for access. Printing on paper is a thing of the past for us (thank goodness!). We are also in the middle of reviewing our MR downtime procedures to redefine our MR processes. I'd love to hear what other sites are doing as well. The meditech-l web site is MTUsers.com ====================================== Hi Everyone, We are a Client Server, 5.5 SR2 facility, and I would like to know what downtime plans facilities have in place for their Health Records Department. Specifically, I would like to know how your Health Records staff find charts during Meditech downtime. For example, do you have a stand alone record locator database, or do you provide a printout of the Master Patient Index? Or do you have other processes in place? Thanking you all in advance for your feedback, Jo JoAnne Diakow, RN, B.Admin (MIS) IS Coordinator for Meditech ADM, CWS and MRI Applications, Thunder Bay Hospitals, Rm 1645, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, 980 Oliver Road Thunder Bay, Ontario, P7B 1A1 office:(807)684-6669 fax: (807)684-5912 [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ meditech-l mailing list [email protected] http://mtusers.com/mailman/listinfo/meditech-l * Confidentiality Notice * This electronic message may contain confidential and legally protected information, intended only for the use of the individual or entity named in the message header.
