We do not use the Meditech solution yet. However, medical necessity is performed after the patient is scheduled and then, if a walk-in, before registration. When patients are scheduled, a scheduling notification prints to our coders, the coders review the diagnosis and scheduled test. If it meets medical necessity, the coder notes it in the scheduling module. If it doesn't, they contact the physician and if the physician can't provide additional information, then the ABN is prepared for the time of registration and normally the coder will issue it. If it is during off ours, the tech will issue the ABN. Incidentally, we have a coder who sits in the admitting department. The meditech-l web site is MTUsers.com ====================================== Hi folks, working on our ABN process, and wondering how other facilities are processing with just the MediTech solution? In some areas, as this happens during order entry, the clinicians are prompted to print and get a signature. Obviously, clinicians don't like talking $$$ with patients. Does anyone have anything to share? - Mic Sager _______________________________________________ meditech-l mailing list [email protected] http://mtusers.com/mailman/listinfo/meditech-l _______________________________________________ meditech-l mailing list [email protected] http://mtusers.com/mailman/listinfo/meditech-l
