Hi Judy-
In fact, any service (include the L) will have some form of moderation.
MeditechTalk.com is a bulletin board type posting - the posted replies are
not approved before posting. In fact, there are currently "comments" on
MeditechTalk.com about the site that have been posted and reflect the true
opinion of those that posted. We do however "scan" those for
appropriateness in attempting to keep this venue clean of profanity and
computer viruses. Now anything that is "uploaded" for posting, like NPR
frags, etc., are definitely "moderated" and checked before posting. I think
the FAQ you're referring to with regards to being "banned" would fall into
place for someone in the category I mentioned above...inappropriate comments
that do not pertain to all of our common cause - networking among our
MEDITECH community.

Kevin Boldt and myself are the co-founders and moderators of
MeditechTalk.com - both have been long standing users of the L and still
are. Between us we have over 30 years experience with MEDITECH. We both
welcome constructive criticism to our site and welcome all to join and
become active. This is intended as an alternative to the other resources we
all have at our disposal.

Thanks to all - Kevin.

I registered for the web site, and poked around a little. The thing that
worries me is that someone who is a Meditech person is reading and
approving/ editing messages before posting. Just how much editing and
censorship might go on? Will the messages about problems be filtered out?
And, the FAQ also mentions something about being "banned".

Otherwise, I am willing to try anything that might improve my understanding
of the system or help me do things more efficiently.

I just saw the reference to www.MeditechTalk.com in another message, so
naturally I checked it out.

First, let me make it clear that I'm not affiliated in any way with either
the Meditech-L list or the MeditechTalk web site, so what I have to say is
my opinion and mine alone. I'm also not sending this to the L to start
anything or cause trouble, but the L is our primary tool for communication
and I wanted to share my observations with all of you.

The Meditech-L references on MeditechTalk struck me as negative and
unnecessary. I quote:
"If you were tired of receiving HUNDREDS of emails every day from a certain
List, then this site is for YOU! Instead of searching THOUSANDS of
DISCONNECTED emails and messages, you can search through a neatly organized
website!" In a survey on the Home page, the first two answers to the
question "Why will you join the Meditech Talk community?" are "Cannot find
anything on the L-List" and "My In Box is too full of L-List messages".

I couldn't find any responsible parties' names on the web site, so I don't
know who has created it but it might be a good idea. I don't like the
impression of competition between a web site and a list, though. I don't
like the impression of 'negative campaigning' that these comments give.

Huh. I've still been poking around on the web site and I do see that the
site admin has a web site listed: Website: http://www.RPhInformatics.com.
And . . . the original reference to MeditechTalk came from
[EMAIL PROTECTED] So I guess RPHInformatics is the
creator/owner/operator of MeditechTalk. And . . . RPHInformatics.com is
still "under construction". Curiouser and curiouser. . .
