This works fine. Demo recall is updated based on the last Filed entry. Billing offices should also change Patient Addresses in DEMO RECALL, rather than BAR, (Returned mailed bills) so the current Patients address is used the next time that the patient visits. Too often I've seen the change made only on the one account in BAR, so the next visit's bill goes to the old address, perpetuating the problem (and animosity between Billing and Registration Staffs). After you change the address in the MIS dictionary run the refile selected account routine and choose the selection report you ran for that insurance. After the refile selected account routine has been run the insurance in the old accounts show the new updated address. I tried this in our test environment and it did change the address on the accounts. When a patient is registered the registration staff copy from Demo Recall. The problem is that Demo Recall does not contain the new insurance address. Meditech is recommending that we manually go into every account that has these insurance mnemonics to update Demo Recall with the new address. This will ensure new registrations will have the correct insurance when it is copied from Demo Recall. We also will have to do this same manual process in BAR to correct the current accounts with the old insurance address. Meditech says there is no automatic routine to update insurance address changes. Has anyone come up with an automated way to get insurance address changes into Demo Recall and BAR?
