Title: Magic - BMV/eMAR additional issues

Good Afternoon L'ers.  We are still having trouble finding a "best practice" solution for a few issues with our BMV/eMAR implementation and I hope you can help!!!!!!!

1.  Barcodes on tubes and ointments.  After a time, they get creased or smeared from the ointment.  Can't use the box for barcode because sometimes gets tossed or misplaced.  Are you using the RX# or NDC# for the barcode on these?  What are others doing??

2.  Has anyone out there that uses Formfast or other Forms Automation software "rotated" the barcode on the armband to vertical?  We are using Code 128 and if I measure the current barcode it barely fits.  I thought that you could change the cpi or pitch or font for printing the barcode so that it "shorter" in length but still Code 128 and readable.  Is this not true....is there no way to "shrink" the barcode without getting rid of some of the characters?

3.  Newborns???  The majority of newborn meds are given immediately after delivery unless the baby is sick or has complications that require additional medications during stay.  With that in mind, when measuring and monitoring scanning rates of nurses caring for newborns they are really low.  I don't see any way around this.....did anyone else come up with a solution or just accept that this is how it will be?
