Roberta,

If threatening each violator with several remedial hours of HIPAA seminars
does not work to control your problem, try this:

In each person's MIS security setup, you can allow the person NO access to
faxing, Dictionary access only, or the ability to use both the dictionary or
to hand-enter fax numbers. Allowing folks to only use the fax numbers that
are in the dictionary would resolve your problem. In order to allow faxing
from dictionary entries only, you will need to have someone check the fax
numbers in the dictionary to make certain they are current. You might want
to have one person in strategic areas such as Lab, Rad, Medical Records that
has the capability to enter new doctors in the dictionary.

Doug

Does anyone have software that blocks fax numbers to residences? We use
Demand Faxing of reports and the users can enter a fax number manually. If
it is wrong, it will ring at a person's home residence and understandably,
this upsets them and presents the hospital in a bad light.
Any other suggestions to block entry of incorrect fax numbers?
