We are a 5.5 Magic site that is getting ready to go to dictionary training for NUR at the end of the summer. The L&D department is very skeptical about Meditech because the area hospitals around here (we are just north of Nashville) are all HCA facilities and the PRN nurses that have reported to our nurses have not been very favorable of the Meditech product to our nurses. Currently the L&D nurses are using Traceview to document their work and are very happy with that, I have a hard sell ahead of me. Can you give me any advice as to what I can tell them about Meditech's L&D's product? They are also very concerned about the fact that they are not going to be able to get fetal monitoring strips. Thanks in advance for your input. -Amy Amy Howell RN, BSN, MSN Clinical Systems Analyst Sumner Regional Health Systems PO Box 1558, 255 Airport Rd Gallatin, TN 37066 615-206-6576 work 615-451-6665 fax [EMAIL PROTECTED] >>> "Bill Mullins" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 5/24/2006 6:17 PM >>> Not sure about this one, but the overdue times for interventions and meds is a whole number (DATA type=INT) so it would accept a 1 but not 0.25. Same for future interventions and meds. So I am not sure if this can be done, I will let you know if I find out differently. Do you want the Q15M times to generate off of the time you set the directions, or do you want it to come every 15 mins on the quarter hour?? If you have the Q15M direction defined in your directions dictionary, you must assign it specific times to occur. If you do not define the "Q15M" in your directions dictionary and have the staff enter the system recognized syntax of "Q15M" manually instead of choosing it from the dictionary, it will trigger from the time you specified for directions to start. Hope this helps. Phyllis D. Our nurses went to the end of shift to document also they just need to make sure that the time is accurate and changed to the time that they actually did their assessments. We went live on March 29 with one unit piloting the Status Board and I trained Super Users on this unit and they then went back and trained their co-workers. I believe that Status Board was only up a few days before users out on the other units where utilizing the system. For our nurses this is also better then what they are use too. Best Wishes Tracy -----Original Message----- From: Lea Goodwin [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, May 24, 2006 4:49 PM To: Cook-Carney, Tracy Subject: RE: [MEDITECH-L] Status Board - Reminders Tracy, Thank you for the input! ANY information about Status Board/Flowsheet implementation is appreciated! We haven't implemented it yet, but in the few demo sessions we've had, the nursing staff here seems to LOVE the idea of having reminders. Our main problem will be training the staff to enter directions into their intervetions when setting up the care plan. I'm not too concerned with the load time issues, because quite frankly, if we get this running, it will be much better than what the nurses are currently doing on the floor to navigate our system. I am a little concerned about limits on documentation times because I know we have some staff who do not enter their clinical data until end shift, even though do they document on paper during the shift. Just a PC time/availablity issue. We're trying to implement wireless laptop carts too now, so hopefully that will remove the issue once we get it started. If you have any other helpful information or issues you have run into while implmenting this, please let me know. Any input is welcome! I'm going to try these dictionary settings for limits and see if that helps. Thanks! We are a Magic 5.5 site SR1 using STATUS BOARD AND FLOWSHEETS... I know that if you do not document close to due time then the time does not fall off. I notice that we have post cardiac cath Q15M and I see them on the next intervention time as well as the worklist. In the status board dictionary I have overdue interventions and future set to 12 hrs. In the process flowsheet dictionary I have the units using flowsheet under the location. In the intervention dictionary I have the documentation limit set up for each intervention. Example Out of Range 60 And the documentation limit I have as before 25%and after 25%. This is also set in our parameters. The directions for the interventions need to be in the direction box or else the times will not display. I had a user one time due this .Q15M under change direction. This affected the times. I took our Status Board live with next intervention cell and our staff did not like the function. Status Board also took longer to load. The meditech-l web site is MTUsers.com ====================================== All, I've been trying to create a pilot program for implementing our Status Board and Flowsheet functions in Meditech. We demo'd what we have to some of the staff the other day, but Labor and Delivery had a question I could not answer. The Status Board reminders for scheduled interventions are WONDERFUL and would be of great help to many areas in our hospital, but there seems to be some issues with timing. I'm hoping it is just something I am missing in the dictionary for directions and/or the status board/flowsheet dictionaries themselves. I'd like to have these features available to all our units eventually. I have tested these features with interventions as close as Q2H, and they seem to work fine. The reminder notices show in the Status Board and I can click on the '+' on the flowsheet to see more detailed info for interventions documented in shorter time periods than what the columns define. The question L&D has is that many of their interventions are Q15M (Every 15 minutes). When I try to assign this in the directions, I get the initial reminder notice, but none of the other upcoming interventions display...even after documenting one, I won't get a reminder for the next one. I know I can assign status board/flowsheet by location, so I just need to know what settings to change to have these reminders pop up for them at Q15M if possible. If anyone out there has successfully implemented the Status Board and Flowsheet, I'd love to get input from you! Our nursing staff really believes this is the one thing we've been missing to tie it all together and I'd like to have this up and running as soon as possible for them. Thanks in advance!
