Hi Randy,
We went through this last year and increased the length to 12. Since it was
'once in a lifetime', we elected for the maximum. Overall, the conversion went
smoothly. Some of the items we paid attention to:
. Interfaces to other vendors. We contacted each to ensure they could
accomodate.
. Label Printers. We still use some old pre-programmed standard
register label printers that needed to be reprogrammed.
. NPR Reports. We searched all reports that referenced account numbers
and editted for proper field length.

Hello Everyone,
We're currently discussing the impact of having Meditech switch us from
a 7-digit account number to something longer possibly 10 or maybe the
maximum length of 12 digits. Meditech said they will make this change
once in a system's lifetime.
We will open a new facility and are thinking of prefixing our current
7-digit account number with 'MR' which would leave 5 digits remaining.
Not enough digits to sustain the new facility hence the need to increase
our account number length.
Has anyone done this before and if so could you share your experiences
and suggestions?
