Actually, no. When doing clinical documentation with 2 sessions, once you've opened the 2 forms, you can click from one session to the other with a single mouse click, going back and forth as many times as you need. With a magic key, you have to enter a number of steps to actually get to and open the form you want to check, then exit out of the same number of steps to get back to your current form, and would need to repeat this process over and over again if you wanted to check more than one field. If the nurse is doing a system assessment, then they want to check any abnormal result against the previous document - is the patient's breathing getting worse or better; is the temp. going up or down; is the wound changing in size or appearance, etc. etc. They may need to pop back and forth multiple times to be able to do this comparison, and having to enter through all of the steps of a magic key is not all that efficient when the need is repetitive. It can be useful to look back and see what the patient's previous status was in a given area while you are documenting current status for that area. If you don't want to have the queries default in and you have attributes attached to the queries that display the answers as "pop-ups", then opening the old document is the quickest way to look at the previous response to that question. Two log-ons would allow for this functionality. However, I may not have encountered the situation that prompted your users to request it. Mike Cottle Sumter Regional Hospital 100 Wheatley Drive Americus, GA 31709 (229) 931-1380 IT Dept. We have a request to have more than one logon for nurses and wonder what others are doing before we make any decisions. Thanks!
